About Sister Serena Owen

KY Colonel Serena Owen's 'calling' in life is to help others. In addition to being an active KFTC member, Serena is a loving mother, wife, and friend for life. Serena’s passion for justice for all began at the early age of 7yrs old! She’s an Educator, Community/State/National Activist, Church Deaconess, an elected School Board Member, and Labor Liaison with approximately 30yrs of service to students, families, and communities. Serena promotes good character, professional development, human rights, and community investment. As a committed longtime member of KFTC, Serena has collaboratively worked towards Equality, Quality Education for All Learners, Human Rights, Voter Empowerment, Social and Economic Justice, Fairness, a Just Transition and Climate Justice, Racial Justice, Workers’ Rights, and Quality Healthcare for All. She is passionate about helping people, empowering Kentucky, restorative justice, and improving the quality of life for all! Her ongoing goal and charge to others is to be actively engaged in moving our state and nation forward by helping to create Healthier Communities and a Healthier Democracy.
